Tests & Results

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results.  Most blood results are sent to the practice within 3 days but urine and stool samples can take longer.  You are encouraged to phone between the hours of 11:00 and 18:00 for your result.  The GP is responsible for checking the result and the receptionist will contact you if necessary follow-up is required.  Please ensure you leave your preferred contact details.

X-ray results are sent directly to the practice but this can take up to 3 weeks.  The GP is responsible for checking the result and the receptionist will contact you if necessary follow-up is required.

It is the responsibility of the hospital doctor to inform you of the results of any tests or examination carried-out in the hospital.  However the GP may get in touch following discussion with the hospital.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
